India’s Diksha Dagar showed resilience at the Scottish Open, recovering from a tough start to finish tied for 33rd after carding a 2-over 74. Despite a challenging day at Dundonald Links, Diksha turned her game around on the back-nine with four birdies in the final eight holes.
Diksha’s 74 was a commendable effort on a day where only 13 players scored below par, with seven players finishing at even par. Positioned well for the weekend, Diksha aims to secure a spot after the second round cut.
Among the Indian contingent, Diksha outshone her compatriots with Avani Prashanth at 8-over 80 and Pranavi Urs at 12-over 84. Leading the tournament were Korea’s Jenny Shin and American Lauren Coughlin, both tied at 6-under 66 after the first round.
The leaderboard also featured A Lim Kim in third place at 5-under 67, while a group of four players shared fifth place at 3-under 69. World No. 1 Nelly Korda and Ireland’s Leona Maguire struggled to score in the challenging conditions.
Diksha’s round showcased a tale of two halves, starting with early bogeys but finishing strong with consecutive birdies to salvage a respectable 74 score.
