India has maintained a diplomatic approach in West Asia during the current conflict, focusing on the safety of its citizens and engaging with all regional partners. The country’s response has been described as measured, responsible, and humane. With nearly nine million Indians residing and working in Gulf nations, the well-being of the Indian diaspora remains a crucial aspect of India’s regional policy.

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, India has taken steps to safeguard its people in the region. Indian embassies and consulates have stayed connected with Indian nationals, offering guidance and assistance as needed. The Indian government has implemented contingency measures to monitor the situation closely and ensure the safe relocation or evacuation of its citizens if necessary.

India’s diplomatic strategy has been characterized by restraint and balance, avoiding alignment with any specific camp in the region. Instead, India has consistently advocated for dialogue, de-escalation, and adherence to international law. This approach reflects India’s tradition of strategic autonomy and has allowed the country to engage with a diverse range of actors in the region, enhancing its credibility as a responsible global player.

In addition to prioritizing the safety of its citizens, India has continued to strengthen trade and economic ties with Gulf nations despite the ongoing tensions in West Asia. The country remains a significant trading partner for many nations in the region, with energy cooperation serving as a cornerstone of the relationship. By emphasizing cooperation, stability, and human welfare in its diplomatic efforts, India has underscored the importance of responsible diplomacy in navigating international crises.
