India’s engineering goods exports witnessed a significant 21% year-on-year increase to $11.48 billion in June, up from $9.51 billion the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by robust demand from countries like the United States, Germany, China, Singapore, and Oman. Notably, engineering exports to Oman saw an exceptional surge, increasing over five-fold year-on-year to $258.97 million.

The United States emerged as the top destination for India’s engineering goods in June, with shipments totaling $1.95 billion. Furthermore, exports to China experienced a notable 74% jump, reaching $361.47 million during the same period. EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha emphasized the sector’s resilience in adapting to the evolving trade landscape but also highlighted the importance of vigilance against emerging challenges.

Despite facing declines in Middle East countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, India’s engineering exports showed positive growth, particularly in Oman, which saw a remarkable 420% year-on-year increase in June. This growth was attributed to the recent implementation of the India-Oman Free Trade Agreement, which bolstered Indian engineering exports in the West Asia and North Africa region.

According to official data, 27 out of 34 engineering panels reported year-on-year growth in June exports, while seven panels, including lead and products, IC engines, and machinery for ATMs, experienced some moderation. Chadha reiterated the need for continuous support from the Indian government to sustain the growth momentum of the engineering exports sector.

India’s engineering sector accounted for 28.4% of the country’s total merchandise exports in June 2026. On a cumulative basis, Indian engineering shipments for the April-June quarter of 2026-27 stood at $34.14 billion, marking an 18.09% increase from the same period in the previous fiscal year.
