India’s High Commissioner designate to Ghana, Surinder Bhagat, met with Major-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, Acting Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA). The discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between India and Ghana in the maritime and port sectors.
During a recent meeting with Kamal-Deen Ali, Director General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, the High Commissioner addressed issues concerning Indian seafarers and crew members in Ghanaian waters. The focus was on ensuring the safety and well-being of Indian maritime personnel and strengthening coordination between the two authorities.
The visit of High Commissioner designate Surinder Bhagat to Ghana marked a step towards bolstering the enduring friendship and partnership between India and Ghana. The High Commission of India expressed commitment to deepening economic engagement and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation with Ghana.
India-Ghana relations have a long history rooted in shared values and a common vision. India’s diplomatic presence in Ghana dates back to 1953, and the two countries established full-fledged diplomatic relations in 1957, shortly after Ghana gained independence.
