India is solidifying its position as a key global talent center for financial services, with Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Bengaluru ranking in the top 30 financial services markets worldwide, as per a report by Colliers India. The report highlights that Indian cities excel in labor availability, talent pipeline, venture capital funding, and industry output. Financial services firms are reevaluating their location strategies to balance talent access, cost competitiveness, and rapid technological advancements.
Mumbai is recognized as a leading ‘global center’ for financial services talent, while Delhi NCR is identified as a significant ‘strategic center.’ Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune are acknowledged as top ‘domestic and operational centers’ globally. Additionally, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune secure the top three positions in the Asia-Pacific labor index rankings.
Arpit Mehrotra, Managing Director of Office Services at Colliers India, emphasized India’s progress as a global financial services hub, attributing it to the country’s abundant talent pool, technological proficiency, and operational capacity. He noted that Indian cities are well-equipped to support strategic and high-value business functions beyond traditional financial headquarters and delivery centers.
The report predicts that the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector could drive 15-20% of office demand in India in the coming years, fueled by increased office space uptake by leading global and domestic firms. India maintains its leadership in talent depth and labor strength in the Asia-Pacific region, with Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru standing out as robust financial services markets.
The financial services landscape in India is diversifying, with cities enhancing front-office capabilities and advancing in digital banking, risk management, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. The country is witnessing a shift towards higher value-added services in the financial sector, signaling a positive trajectory for its financial services ecosystem.
