India’s pacer Mayank Yadav attributes his return from a lengthy 21-month injury break to mental resilience and heightened body awareness. In the first T20I against Zimbabwe, Mayank’s impactful performance, including a 2-18 spell, aided in restricting Zimbabwe to 125/7. Despite a stress fracture requiring surgery in 2025, Mayank’s immediate impact with a wicket off the first delivery showcased his control and skill.

Mayank impressed with sharp seam movement and consistent bounce, breaching the 140 kmph mark and unsettling the opposition batters. Reflecting on his comeback, Mayank expressed the joy of representing his country and delivering a remarkable spell. He emphasized the importance of executing his strengths and maintaining composure under pressure while playing for the national team.

The early breakthrough boosted Mayank’s confidence, allowing him to settle into a rhythm after a period of absence from international cricket. Highlighting the challenges of rehabilitation, Mayank stressed the significance of mental fortitude in overcoming injuries. He acknowledged the role of mental strength in his recovery journey, underscoring its impact on his physical well-being post-surgery.
