India’s preparations for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England have been affected as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is sidelined due to injury. Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge, recognized for his stellar performances in domestic cricket and for India A, has been selected as his replacement. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Nitish’s unavailability for both series after sustaining an injury during the recent ODI series against Afghanistan.
The absence of Nitish Kumar Reddy poses a challenge for India, especially with Hardik Pandya already out due to an injury from IPL 2026. Nitish, a key seam-bowling all-rounder, was expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming matches. Suryansh Shedge’s inclusion is a result of his consistent performances, notably in the tri-series in Sri Lanka where he excelled for India A.
Suryansh Shedge’s rise to the national team comes after his impressive displays in various tournaments. The 23-year-old cricketer showcased his skills during the tri-series in Sri Lanka, contributing significantly with both bat and ball. His selection is based on his standout performances in domestic cricket, including a successful stint with Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
India is set to face Ireland in two T20Is before embarking on a tour to the UK for a series of T20Is and ODIs.
