India’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna expressed that the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan will be crucial in setting the team’s rhythm for the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The first ODI, scheduled at the HPCA Stadium, faced a delayed toss due to heavy rain, as Prasidh highlighted the significance of these matches in determining the right team combinations and strategies for the World Cup.
Reflecting on his recent Test performance in New Chandigarh where he took 3-37, Prasidh emphasized the importance of bowling fuller lengths. He mentioned that the team has been focusing on this aspect for some time, aiming to create difficulties for batsmen by hitting uncomfortable lengths that challenge their decision-making.
Transitioning back to white-ball cricket, Prasidh stressed the need to adapt to different formats by adjusting one’s approach and mindset accordingly. Having played T20s and a Test match before the ODI series, he highlighted the importance of understanding the specific demands of each format and executing roles effectively as a team.
When questioned about his role as a senior member in the ODI squad in the absence of key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya, Prasidh emphasized the collaborative and supportive environment within the team. He downplayed any sense of hierarchy, emphasizing the mutual learning and backing among teammates as the most effective way to progress collectively.
