India secured another medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as weightlifter Rishikanta Singh Chanambam claimed silver in the men’s 60kg category. He lifted a total of 264kg, setting a new Games record in the snatch category. Rishikanta’s stellar performance placed him behind Malaysia’s Bin Kasdan Mohamad Aniq, with Kenya’s Joshua Amunga Mboya taking the bronze.
Carrying his success from the snatch, Rishikanta began the Clean & Jerk with a solid 143kg lift, maintaining his position for a medal. Despite a failed attempt at 148kg, he couldn’t secure the gold, allowing Aniq to clinch the title with a successful 149kg lift. Rishikanta’s final effort at 151kg fell short, concluding his challenge with a total of 264kg.
While narrowly missing the gold, Rishikanta’s silver ensured India started Day 4 of the Games with a medal.
