India’s top men’s doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, secured a spot in the final of the 2026 Thailand Open Super 500 by defeating Malaysia’s Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin in a thrilling semifinal. The Indian duo, ranked fourth globally and top-seeded in the tournament, won the intense match 19-21, 22-20, 21-16, extending their winning record against the Malaysian opponents to 8-2.
With PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen already eliminated from the tournament, Satwik and Chirag carried India’s hopes in Bangkok and performed admirably under pressure in front of an enthusiastic crowd. They aimed to claim their first title since the 2024 Thailand Open and make their first final appearance since the 2025 China Masters.
The Malaysian pair initially took the lead in the opening game, but Satwik and Chirag fought back after a brief setback. Despite the Malaysians’ strong start, the Indian duo made a remarkable comeback, eventually losing the first game 19-21. In the second game, both teams engaged in a tense battle, with Satwik and Chirag showing improved communication and confidence. They secured the game 22-20 after a thrilling extra-points finish.
Carrying the momentum into the final game, Satwik and Chirag maintained control throughout, ultimately clinching a memorable victory with a score of 21-16. They are set to face either Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin or China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu in the upcoming final match.
