India’s opener Shafali Verma has shown remarkable form in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka, propelling her to the sixth position in the latest Women’s T20I Batter Rankings. She has climbed four spots, inching closer to the top spot she held in 2020, making her the second Indian player, after Mithali Raj, to achieve this feat.
Verma’s resurgence follows her standout performance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Final last month, where she played a crucial role in India’s victory by scoring 87 runs and taking two wickets. Her exceptional form has continued in the T20 format, with three half-centuries against Sri Lanka, placing her at the top of the run-scoring charts in the series.
The young Indian star now trails Australian batter Beth Mooney by just 60 rating points, showcasing her growing dominance in T20I cricket. Additionally, Indian player Richa Ghosh has also made significant progress in the T20I batter rankings, moving up seven places to secure the 20th position after her match-winning 40 not out in the series against Sri Lanka.
India’s bowling lineup has also witnessed a surge in rankings, with Renuka Singh and Shree Charani making notable advancements. Renuka, who impressed with a four-wicket haul in the third match, climbed eight spots to enter the top six in the T20I bowler rankings. Left-arm spinner Shree Charani jumped 17 places to 52nd, while Vaishnavi Sharma soared an impressive 390 places to reach 124th in her debut international series.
Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma maintains her top spot among T20I bowlers, and Hayley Matthews from the West Indies leads the T20I all-rounders rankings. Sri Lanka’s Hasini Perera and Kavisha Dilhari have also seen improvements in the batter rankings, moving up to 71st and 79th, respectively, after their performances in the series.
With India dominating the series with a 4-0 lead and eyeing a whitewash, the rankings reflect their supremacy, with both batters and bowlers excelling.
