India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the growth of India’s space sector, attributing it to the supportive policy environment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Goyal praised the achievements of Skyroot Aerospace, particularly the success of the Vikram-1 mission, India’s first privately developed orbital rocket.
Goyal emphasized the significance of India’s space journey, noting the symbolic importance of the Vikram-1 mission’s success. Discussions with Skyroot Aerospace focused on future plans for the space sector, aiming to enhance the space startup ecosystem and attract top engineering talent to India.
Skyroot co-founders also met Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, expressing pride in contributing to India’s deep-tech ecosystem. The company aims to develop globally competitive space technology within India and anticipates using India-built chips on their rockets in the future.
Prime Minister Modi commended the Skyroot team during their meeting, discussing technology advancements and the potential of India’s private space industry. Modi’s encouragement for young entrepreneurs and innovation was highlighted, reflecting the vibrant spirit of India’s private space ecosystem.
