Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy praised the Indian Navy as a key facilitator of India’s global ambitions. Speaking at the Vice Admiral KK Nayyar Memorial Lecture, he emphasized the vital connection between India’s maritime strength and its goal to achieve developed nation status by 2047. Narayana Murthy highlighted the Navy’s multifaceted role in ensuring national security, safeguarding maritime trade, and supporting India’s global aspirations.
He underscored the significance of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), in modern warfare during his address. Narayana Murthy also commended the Navy for upholding core values such as discipline, courage, teamwork, integrity, and national pride, which he deemed essential for India’s advancement. The lecture, commemorating Vice Admiral Nayyar, coincided with the National Maritime Foundation’s 21st Foundation Day, a leading institution for maritime policy advocacy.
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, highlighted the Navy’s dual role in addressing current security challenges and preparing for future strategic needs. He noted the Navy’s increasing recognition as a key security provider in the Indo-Pacific region, evident in the participation of over 70 countries in the upcoming International Fleet Review (IFR). Additionally, these nations will engage in the MILAN multinational exercise and the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Conclave, where India will assume the chairmanship.
The event in New Delhi brought together senior military officials, diplomats, academics, strategic experts, and Vice Admiral Nayyar’s family and associates. The National Maritime Foundation continues to honor Vice Admiral Nayyar’s legacy by promoting maritime awareness, fostering informed policy discussions, and advocating for sustainable development of India’s maritime domain.
