INS Ikshak, a Survey Vessel Large (SVL), is set to carry out a hydrographic survey along the coast of Seychelles coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country. The ship’s operational deployment includes professional interactions with the Seychelles Defence Forces to enhance maritime cooperation and interoperability.
Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Limited in Kolkata, INS Ikshak is the third in the Sandhayak-class of SVLs. The vessel, equipped with advanced platforms, aims to strengthen maritime partnerships with friendly nations and promote peace, security, and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.
INS Ikshak’s deployment aligns with India’s commitment to maritime cooperation. The ship’s visit not only demonstrates India’s capability in constructing advanced warships but also showcases its willingness to share accurate seabed mapping data with allied countries for improved navigation.
