Bikaner, Aug 10 (IANS) Police have cracked the much-publicised robbery of Rs 51 lakh from an ATM cash van in the Nokha area of Bikaner district in Rajasthan. In this connection, the police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in hatching the conspiracy.

The breakthrough came after three special teams constituted under the direction of Bikaner Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachawa conducted an intensive investigation, including technical analysis and questioning of suspects.

According to police, employees deployed with the ATM cash van were allegedly involved in the conspiracy and the robbery was carried out with insider involvement. Police have arrested Shyam Sundar Jat Dawa and Vikram Singh, residents of Charakada, in connection with the case.

The two accused were later produced before a court. The court remanded them to seven days of police custody. During the remand period, investigators are questioning them to recover the looted cash and ascertain the role of other persons allegedly involved in the crime.

At a press conference held on Monday, Nokha Circle Officer Jarnail Singh, Nokha police station SHO Govind Singh and Panchu police station SHO Ishwar Prasad Jangid explained how the accused were apprehended. The officials said three teams had been working on different aspects of the case since the robbery.

They also informed the media that technical investigation, collection of evidence and sustained interrogation helped police establish the sequence of events and identify the alleged conspirators. As a result of this, the accused were identified and nabbed. Police claim that it is a watertight case to establish the criminals’ act, who hatched the entire conspiracy and carried out the robbery.

Police officials further said two other accused allegedly involved in the robbery are still absconding. Teams have been conducting raids at various locations to apprehend them, and further arrests are expected.
