In a move to enhance physical education quality in schools and bolster grassroots table tennis, the International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO) partnered with the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Academy and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to kick off the ITTF Level 1 Coach Education Programme at Prometheus School in Noida. The five-day international certification program began on Monday and will end on Friday.
The initiative has gathered 22 Physical Education educators, school coaches, and aspiring table tennis coaches from various parts of India to undergo globally recognized coaching education.
The program’s goal is to equip educators with internationally accepted coaching methodologies, athlete development principles, and modern teaching practices to enhance sports at the school level.
Christina Chee from Thailand, a renowned ITTF educator, is leading the program, guiding participants through classroom sessions and practical on-table coaching modules. The curriculum emphasizes coaching basics, technical skill enhancement, session planning, player development, and creating a positive learning environment for young athletes.
Christina Chee, the ITTF Educator, emphasized the importance of coach education in fostering a robust sporting ecosystem, stating that empowering teachers and coaches with globally recognized knowledge and practical coaching techniques creates better learning environments for young players. Gaurav Dixit, Co-Director of ISSO, highlighted the organization’s commitment to providing meaningful sporting opportunities for students by empowering their educators. The collaboration with ISF Academy and ITTF aims to bring world-class coach education to India and strengthen grassroots table tennis.
The ITTF Level 1 Coach Education Programme represents a significant milestone in ISSO’s efforts to enhance school sports in India through international partnerships and top-notch education. ISSO has recently conducted globally recognized coach education programs in collaboration with leading international sports bodies like FIBA, BWF, and Kukkiwon, while also expanding sporting opportunities through initiatives such as partnering with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).
Apart from coach education, ISSO continues to offer international exposure to student-athletes, such as sending the Indian contingent to the ISF Basketball Championship 2026 in Serbia. These initiatives align with ISSO’s vision of establishing globally connected sporting pathways for students, educators, and coaches within India’s international school system.
