Total internet subscribers in India increased to 1,092.79 million by the end of March 2026, marking a 6.24% rise from December 2025, as per a TRAI report. The report indicated that out of the total subscribers, 46.54 million were wired, and 1,046.26 million were wireless, with broadband users at 1,065.88 million and narrowband users at 26.91 million.
The broadband subscriber base saw a 5.81% growth quarter on quarter until March 2026, while narrowband subscriptions surged by 26.62%. Wireline tele-density also rose from 3.33% in December 2025 to 3.38% in March 2026, showing a quarterly growth rate of 1.64%.
Overall telephone subscribers in India reached 1,330.58 million, pushing the tele-density to 93.26% from the previous quarter’s 91.74%. The Monthly Average Revenue per User (ARPU) for wireless services increased by 0.76% to Rs 196.04, with a yearly rise of 7.15% in the same quarter.
