An incident at Pune’s Khadak Police Station in Maharashtra involved an intoxicated youth allegedly assaulting police officers, including senior personnel, and making death threats. The accused, identified as Rohan Gautam Salve (26), faces charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Maharashtra Police Act, and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The altercation unfolded when Police Constable Chandrashekhar Sharanappa Hunchalgi and his colleague responded to a tip-off about a hotel operating beyond permissible hours on Tilak Road.
The police officers found the accused engaged in a heated argument with a woman, who objected to him recording her on his mobile phone. Despite police intervention, the youth, identified as Rohan Gautam Salve from Gultekdi, Pune, became aggressive and uncooperative. Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan arrived at the scene and was met with abusive language and physical assault from the accused, who resisted attempts to verify his intoxication level.
During the confrontation, Salve spat at officers, physically attacked them, and issued threats, boasting of a previous criminal case. The police managed to subdue him after a scuffle and took him to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination, confirming his intoxication. The accused obstructed official duties, assaulted officers, and made death threats, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the law. Salve, with a history of violence, remains in police custody pending further legal proceedings.
