Four special investigation teams have been formed to look into the discovery of a dismembered body found inside an abandoned suitcase at Chennai’s Perambur Railway Station. The teams, led by police officials, are working to identify the victim and apprehend the perpetrators of this gruesome crime.
The incident came to light when a blue trolley suitcase was found unattended near a staircase at Platform 4 of the railway station. Passengers noticed the suitcase, causing concern due to its prolonged presence at the location.
Upon inspection, authorities found the body of a young man, estimated to be around 30 years old, inside the suitcase. The victim’s body had been mutilated, with the head, hands, and legs severed, and the limbs cut up to the knees. The police suspect that the murder occurred at least two days before the discovery.
Investigators discovered that the victim’s body had been wrapped in a red polythene sheet, placed in a sack, and locked inside the suitcase. A sniffer dog was brought in to trace the scent, leading authorities to the Perambur Carriage Works railway station area, but no suspects were found. CCTV footage revealed two men arriving at the station in an autorickshaw, leaving the suitcase on Platform 4 before fleeing.
Authorities believe that the victim was killed elsewhere before being dismembered and transported to the railway station. Efforts are underway to locate the missing head and limbs, suspected to have been disposed of in different locations. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the investigation is actively searching for leads in missing-person reports across Chennai and nearby districts.
