Investigators in Pakistan are now looking into a potential cryptocurrency-related dispute as they probe the abduction and gangrape of two foreign women. Muhammad Raza Dar, a key suspect and relative of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, is under scrutiny in connection with the case. The investigation took a new turn after one of the survivors provided her statement to a judicial magistrate.
The survivor alleged that Raza Dar received $100,000 in exchange for ensuring her release. According to her statement, a group of armed men entered their residence, restrained them, and demanded access to a computer and cryptocurrency funds. The survivor claimed that they were threatened with death if they did not comply with the demands.
During the ordeal, the survivor reported being physically assaulted and sexually abused by the attackers. She further stated that Raza Dar used her phone to request money from her contacts, eventually securing $100,000 for their release. The women were rescued after a car accident involving the main suspect while en route to the airport.
The two victims, hailing from the Netherlands and Venezuela, were allegedly abducted on June 29 and subjected to the horrific ordeal in Lahore. Four suspects have been apprehended, with one still at large. The arrested individuals have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
