An IPS trainee officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad reportedly tried to end his life following accusations of sexually harassing a female colleague. The officer, identified as Uday Krishna Reddy, consumed a toxic substance at a relative’s home in Moti Nagar, Hyderabad, and was admitted to an ICU at a private hospital.

Before the suicide attempt, Reddy took to social media to deny the allegations against him, asserting his faith in the legal process and expressing confidence in receiving justice. He also urged the media to verify facts before publishing reports.

The female trainee officer filed a complaint at the Attapur Police Station, alleging that Reddy had harassed her between June 23 and July 10 during their training period. The complaint included accusations of sending abusive messages, criminal intimidation, and sharing her private video without consent.

The police initiated a case against Reddy based on the complaint, which led to his departure from the academy. The allegations against him resulted in charges under various sections of the law, including those related to sexual harassment, voyeurism, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

Reddy, who had a remarkable journey from being a police constable to achieving an IPS rank, faced these serious allegations after securing the 350th rank in the Civil Service Examination. His determination and hard work had been previously commended, highlighting his inspiring rise in the ranks.
