Premier League team Ipswich has finalized the acquisition of Morocco’s standout player Issa Diop from Fulham. Diop, a central defender, has inked a four-year contract with Ipswich ahead of the upcoming season. He is set to join Ipswich’s main squad during their current training session in La Manga, marking a new chapter in his English football journey.
Issa Diop, who recently represented Morocco at the FIFA World Cup 2026, participated in five matches during the tournament, helping his team reach the quarterfinals and scoring in a game against the Netherlands. With 173 appearances in the Premier League, Diop brings considerable top-flight experience, having played for West Ham United before moving to Fulham in 2022.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Diop stated, “I’m thrilled to progress in my career with Ipswich Town. I believe this club is the right fit for me, considering its stature and the positive discussions I’ve had.” The French-born player, who began his senior career at Toulouse and later captained the team, is eager to integrate into Ipswich and meet the staff, teammates, and fans.
Issa Diop’s journey includes a notable spell at West Ham United, where he made 119 appearances and scored eight goals before transferring to Fulham. He also represented France at youth levels, winning the 2016 Under-19 European Championship. Diop switched his international allegiance to Morocco in 2026, debuting in a friendly against Ecuador and subsequently featuring in the World Cup squad.
