A senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei emphasized the importance of realistic negotiations between Tehran and Washington to protect mutual interests. Ali Shamkhani, Iran’s Defence Council secretary, highlighted the need for grounded discussions during an interview with Qatar’s Al Jazeera. He mentioned that refraining from destabilizing actions in West Asia is crucial for all parties involved in the diplomatic process.
Shamkhani underlined that Iran’s missile program is a non-negotiable red line for the country. He warned of a strong response to any potential threats against Iran, emphasizing the nation’s high military readiness. Additionally, he pointed out that Israel would require US support to launch an attack on Iran, noting the risks associated with any miscalculations in the region.
Amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington and a US military presence in the area, Shamkhani’s statements shed light on Iran’s stance on regional stability. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also reiterated the country’s stance on its nuclear program, stating that Iran would not succumb to excessive demands. He expressed readiness for nuclear program verification while affirming Iran’s peaceful nuclear intentions.
