Iran launched missiles towards Israel on Thursday, triggering air raid sirens in various locations, including Tel Aviv. The Israeli military confirmed the missile launch but reported no casualties. This attack came after a seven-hour pause in hostilities.
The Israeli Air Force detected the missiles originating from Iran and activated air defense systems to intercept them. Iran’s state broadcaster also acknowledged the missile launch towards Israel. Amid escalating tensions, Iranian state media claimed over 1,000 fatalities in recent Israeli and US strikes.
The conflict escalated following US-Israel joint airstrikes that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran had sought diplomatic solutions to avoid war but felt compelled to retaliate against what he termed as “American-Zionist military aggression.”
Israel, citing concerns about Iran’s alleged nuclear program, conducted a strike, claiming Iran was rebuilding its atomic bomb facilities in new underground bunkers. The situation has raised tensions in the region, with Qatar accusing Iran of trying to draw neighboring states into the conflict and Turkey expressing alarm after a missile landed on its territory.
The ongoing missile exchanges highlight the fragile security situation in the Middle East, with diplomatic efforts stalling and military actions escalating.
