Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed readiness to seek diplomatic solutions to end the conflict with the United States and Israel while emphasizing the protection of Iranian rights. During a call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Pezeshkian highlighted deep distrust towards the US, citing recent aggressive actions, including attacks during negotiations, which he condemned as betrayals against Iran. Axios reported that the US and Iran are nearing an agreement aimed at halting the hostilities, potentially involving Iran halting nuclear enrichment and the US lifting sanctions, along with mutual easing of restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, the US, and Israel agreed to a ceasefire on April 8 following a 40-day conflict initiated by US and Israeli assaults on February 28. Despite a round of peace talks in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, no consensus was reached. Recent weeks have seen both sides exchanging various proposals to end the war, with Iran currently assessing the latest proposal. Contrary to reports suggesting a nearing agreement, Iran clarified that no new written communications have been shared with the US, dismissing claims of a one-page deal to cease hostilities as false and aimed at manipulating markets.
The Fars news agency labeled recent media coverage as misleading, asserting that Iran has yet to respond to the latest US communication transmitted through Pakistan. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran is evaluating the US proposal and will provide a response after completing its assessment, as reported by the Iranian Students’ News Agency.
