Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Abdolrahim Mousavi was reported killed in the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, as per the country’s state-run IRIB TV. The strikes in Tehran also claimed the lives of Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Mohammad Pakpour, Secretary of the country’s Defence Council Ali Shamkhani, and Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, according to Xinhua news agency.
Additional names of victims are expected to be disclosed in subsequent local media reports. The reported killings were part of a broader joint offensive by the US and Israel targeting Iran’s military and strategic infrastructure, significantly escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that seven senior Iranian military commanders, including Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and the Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were killed in precise airstrikes conducted across Iran. The operation, carried out by the Israel Air Force (IAF) following intelligence findings, targeted two separate locations in Tehran where high-ranking Iranian security officials were present.
Iran’s Islamic Republic Guard Corps (IRGC) has pledged to avenge the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowing to launch the “most ferocious offensive operation in history” against the US and Israel. In a statement on its official Telegram page, the IRGC emphasized the Iranian nation’s determination to punish those responsible for the Imam’s death and defend the nation against internal and external threats.
