An Iranian delegation has landed in Switzerland for discussions with the United States at the Burgenstock resort to address Middle East conflicts. The Swiss foreign ministry welcomed the delegation’s arrival, noting their visit as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran. Iran’s state-run IRIB TV reported that the Iranian negotiating team, known as “Minab 168,” has also reached Switzerland.
Switzerland continues to offer a discreet and reliable setting for talks at the Burgenstock resort regarding the MoU’s implementation between the US and Iran. Initial negotiations on the interim peace deal were initially set for Friday but were postponed. US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Switzerland, expressing optimism that the discussions with Iran will progress on nuclear and Lebanon ceasefire issues.
Vance anticipates advancements in negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program and efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon during the talks. He mentioned that the Iranian negotiators had arrived in Switzerland, with discussions expected to span several days. Vance highlighted the focus on nuclear and Lebanon ceasefire matters, acknowledging that Iran would also bring up their concerns during the talks.
The talks in Switzerland are set to occur near Lucerne after a delayed start to the diplomatic process. Vance confirmed the presence of technical negotiators from various parties on the ground ahead of the meetings.
