Iran’s air defenses in the southern province of Bushehr were activated, leading to the destruction of a US drone, as reported by Iran’s media. The semi-official Tasnim news agency mentioned that Iran’s air defenses successfully intercepted the US drone near Bushehr by using missiles. Additionally, the semi-official Fars news agency stated that Iran’s armed forces launched missiles at specific targets in the country’s southern regions, possibly resulting in clashes in the Gulf.
Meanwhile, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported that Iranian armed forces fired warning shots at four vessels near the Strait of Hormuz for attempting to cross the waterway without Iran’s coordination. Early Thursday, there were reports of three explosions east of the port city of Bandar Abbas. Subsequently, multiple US media outlets confirmed fresh overnight strikes by the US military in Iran, targeting a military site deemed threatening to US forces and commercial vessels in the region.
The Iran Islamic Revolution Guard Corps announced that they conducted strikes on a US air base in response to the US attacks on Bandar Abbas. In earlier developments, Iran demanded the release of its frozen assets amounting to 24 billion US dollars during negotiations with the United States to end the war, as reported by Tasnim. Following a ceasefire on April 8 after 40 days of conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, peace talks were held in Islamabad on April 11 and 12 but failed to reach an agreement.
In recent weeks, reports indicate that both sides have exchanged various proposed plans through Pakistani mediation to establish conditions for resolving their conflict.
