The Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning that any aggression towards Iranian oil tankers and commercial ships will lead to a strong retaliation against a US military center in the region and enemy vessels. This caution comes after recent clashes between Iran and the United States in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has heightened its control over the strait since February 28, specifically blocking passage for vessels linked to Israel and the US following joint strikes on Iranian soil.
The United States has enforced a naval blockade on the strait, obstructing the transit of ships to and from Iranian ports. In response, the US military has targeted multiple Iranian vessels and oil tankers in recent days. The IRGC’s Aerospace Division, in a separate social media post, declared that its missiles and drones have targeted US assets in the region and ships of the perceived aggressive enemy, awaiting orders to engage.
US President Donald Trump, on the other hand, expressed anticipation of communication from Iran amidst uncertainties surrounding nuclear negotiations. When questioned about Tehran’s potential deliberate delay in the negotiation process, Trump indicated a willingness to explore alternative strategies if agreements are not reached promptly. He hinted at a potential shift in approach, mentioning the possibility of reverting to “Project Freedom” or an enhanced version, “Project Freedom Plus,” if required.
