Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted retaliatory missile and drone attacks against US assets in Jordan and Kuwait. The IRGC targeted US aircraft at an airport in Jordan’s Aqaba with ballistic missiles, damaging several planes. Additionally, they destroyed an American early warning radar system in Kuwait using drones and set fire to drones at the Ali Al Salem Air Base.
The IRGC stated that these attacks were in response to US provocations against Iran’s territory. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed retaliatory strikes against Iranian military sites, air defense systems, and maritime capabilities. CENTCOM aimed to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a separate statement, the IRGC warned that the Strait of Hormuz would remain unsafe for oil, gas, and chemical shipments as long as the US continues its actions in the region. Earlier, the IRGC had also targeted a US early-warning radar system and military facilities at Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base, destroying the radar system and damaging drones and equipment.
