Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has pledged to avenge the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowing a severe response against the US and Israel. The IRGC stated that the Iranian nation will not rest until the perpetrators of Khamenei’s murder face punishment. The Armed Forces and Basij forces are committed to upholding Khamenei’s legacy and defending the nation against internal and external threats.
The Iranian Cabinet has also issued a warning that the perpetrators of this “great crime” will face consequences. Khamenei’s death, attributed to a joint US-Israeli attack, has marked a significant shift in Iran’s leadership after his 36-year rule. President Donald Trump confirmed the killing, emphasizing the effectiveness of intelligence cooperation with Israel in the operation.
Following the attack, Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes against several countries in the region. Trump’s decision to escalate tensions with Iran, from nuclear negotiations to regime change, led to the fatal strike targeting Iran’s leadership. While there were reports of celebrations over Khamenei’s reported death, no widespread uprising was evident, and the full extent of the attacks remains unclear.
