Ireland’s left-arm pacer Jai Moondra expressed joy over his debut international appearance in the T20I series opener against India, describing it as an ‘unreal feeling.’ He credited his teammates and coaches for guiding him to stick to the team’s strategies. Moondra’s impressive figures of 2-25 contributed to Ireland’s 34-run victory over India, marking their first win against the T20 World Cup champions in international cricket.
In a pre-match interview before the second T20I, Moondra shared his excitement, stating, “It was an amazing feeling to compete on the international stage and test myself against the world’s best. It’s a different feeling that I can’t describe in one word, but it’s something I will always remember.”
When asked about his successful performance, Moondra attributed it to following the team’s plan diligently. He acknowledged the support and guidance from his teammates and coaches, emphasizing the importance of sticking to the basics and trusting the training received.
Originally from Tonk, Rajasthan, Moondra relocated to Ireland in 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in electronics and communication. While playing for the Leinster Cricket Club locally and working at Intel in Dublin, Moondra has proven himself as a valuable asset to Ireland’s cricket setup, despite his impending work visa expiration and lack of a central contract.
Reflecting on his approach for the upcoming match, Moondra emphasized the need to maintain consistency and adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of international cricket. He stressed the importance of following the team’s suggestions and staying focused on executing the plans effectively in the challenging environment of international cricket.
