Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning, stating that Israel will not tolerate attacks on its soldiers or territory. Netanyahu vowed to exact a “very heavy price” from Hezbollah for the killing of four soldiers in Lebanon. He expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and emphasized the need for a strong response to Hezbollah’s actions.
Netanyahu instructed the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) to strike Hezbollah forcefully following the attack, which he deemed a violation of the ceasefire. The IDF targeted over 80 terror sites and eliminated numerous terrorists in response. Additionally, the IDF conducted strikes on Hezbollah command posts in the Beqaa Valley.
Emphasizing Israel’s stance on security, Netanyahu affirmed that any attacks on Israeli soldiers or territory will result in severe consequences for Hezbollah. He reiterated Israel’s commitment to protecting its northern communities by maintaining a security presence in southern Lebanon as necessary.
US President Donald Trump publicly urged Israel to exercise restraint in Lebanon, suggesting a “softer touch” in response to Hezbollah threats. Trump highlighted the potential for easing tensions in Lebanon through the newly announced Iran agreement. He encouraged Israel to consider alternative approaches in dealing with Hezbollah-related challenges.
