An Israeli reservist, Raz Cohen, a 26-year-old Jerusalem resident who served in the Iron Dome air defense missile interception system unit, was arrested on March 1. He was indicted for maintaining contact with Iranian intelligence officials for months, who tasked him with various security missions, including sharing sensitive security information he had access to during his service. The investigation revealed that Cohen was aware of the Iranian officials managing the contact and received money from them in return.
Earlier this year, Iran executed a man named Ali Ardestani for spying for Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad. Ardestani, described as a “key” Mossad operative in Iran, had transmitted sensitive information to Israel after being recruited through social media. He conducted missions for Mossad, such as photographing specific locations and providing information on individuals, in exchange for digital currency. Ardestani confessed to cooperating with Mossad officers and providing them with valuable information, leading to his execution after due judicial process and confirmation by Iran’s Supreme Court.
After a 12-day conflict in June 2025, Iran’s security, intelligence, and judicial authorities arrested several individuals accused of spying for Israel.
