PM Modi, upon landing in Rome, highlighted the purpose of his official visit, aimed at enhancing the relationship between India and Italy. The leaders are expected to convene at the historic Villa Doria Pamphili to solidify the India-Italy strategic partnership through a joint declaration. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted the significance of this visit in bolstering the existing partnership between the two nations.
The visit signifies a crucial moment in the India-Italy Strategic Partnership, with a focus on various sectors such as trade, investment, defense, clean energy, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. Both countries are actively implementing the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029 to enhance cooperation in these areas. The engagement also aims to strengthen India’s ties with Europe, particularly in trade and investment, following the recent India-European Union Free Trade Agreement.
