Jaipur International Airport Limited (JIAL) has been honored with the Silver Recognition at the Airports Council International Asia-Pacific and Middle East Green Airports Recognition 2026 awards. The award, themed “Climate Change Adaptation,” acknowledges the airport’s efforts in climate resilience and environmentally friendly operations.
Situated in a semi-arid area prone to heat waves, Jaipur International Airport has implemented a “Cool Terminal” ecosystem to enhance energy efficiency and passenger comfort. Upgrades to Terminal 2, including high-performance glass and insulated roofing, have significantly reduced indoor heat gain.
Through the adoption of energy-efficient cooling systems and on-site solar power generation, the airport has cut HVAC energy consumption by almost 35% and decreased surface temperatures by 6–10 degrees Celsius. These sustainability measures have led to an annual reduction of over 200 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions, aligning with India’s environmental goals.
A spokesperson for Jaipur International Airport Limited expressed pride in the achievement, stating that the recognition from ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East underscores the airport’s dedication to sustainability and climate resilience. The airport remains committed to developing an environmentally responsible infrastructure while prioritizing passenger needs and environmental stewardship.
Jaipur International Airport, Rajasthan’s busiest airport, serves more than 5.75 million passengers annually and manages nearly 120 air traffic movements each day. With a focus on technology-driven passenger experiences and operational excellence, the airport operates across 776 acres and has been recognized for its sustainable practices and operational efficiency.
