External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has arrived in France to participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. He was warmly received by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot for their first bilateral discussion. The meeting will focus on global issues such as the conflict in Ukraine and West Asia.
EAM Jaishankar’s visit to France is at the invitation of Barrot to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with Partner Countries. Discussions at the meeting will cover topics like encouraging de-escalation in Iran and the Middle East. The ministers will also address support for Kyiv and increasing pressure on Russia regarding its shadow fleet in Ukraine.
France and its partners aim to collaborate on repairing Chernobyl’s confinement structure and combatting drug trafficking in Syria. A G7 task force will be established to fight drug trafficking through a network of ports in G7 countries. Additionally, plans include organizing a regional security conference in the Caribbean and a conference on combating terrorist financing in Paris.
