External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had a productive discussion with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations in trade, investment, and various other areas. The two diplomats acknowledged the steady progress in the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan, with a commitment to further strengthen cooperation across different sectors. They also deliberated on upcoming bilateral engagements at various levels and enhancing collaboration within international organizations.
Bakhtiyor Saidov highlighted the importance of maintaining a close and regular dialogue between the foreign ministries of both countries. Recently, India and Uzbekistan agreed to boost trade relations, tackle non-tariff barriers, and aim to double bilateral trade within the next three years. During the 14th Session of the India-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation, discussions were held on expanding Indian exports to Uzbekistan in various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, machinery, electronics, automobiles, textiles, healthcare, education, tourism, and more.
