External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had a phone call with Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi to talk about the ongoing West Asia conflict. Jaishankar later shared on social media about their discussion.

The oil tanker, flagged to the Republic of the Marshall Islands, was attacked by an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) off the coast of Oman. The attack resulted in the death of one Indian crew member and caused a fire on the tanker. The crew members, including Indians, Bangladeshis, and Ukrainians, were evacuated, and the Royal Navy of Oman is monitoring the situation.
The conflict in West Asia began with US-Israel strikes on Iran, leading to retaliatory actions. The initial strikes targeted senior Iranian leaders, prompting Iran to respond with attacks on US assets and allies across the region.
