External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar participated in bilateral discussions with foreign leaders at the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila. He met with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to address regional issues. Additionally, Jaishankar held talks with the European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, during the event.
Following the meetings, Jaishankar shared insights from his interactions on social media, expressing pleasure in meeting with the Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi Foreign Ministers. Moreover, he updated on his discussion with the EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas, highlighting the importance of such engagements.
Earlier, Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss defense agreements and progress on an interim trade deal. The leaders met on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meetings in Manila, where they also reviewed regional developments in the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific. The discussions emphasized the strategic partnership between India and the United States.
