External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with South Korea’s National Security Director Wi Sung-lac in Seoul. They discussed global developments and the Indo-Pacific during their meeting. Earlier, Jaishankar also held talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, focusing on cooperation in various sectors like trade, defense, and technology.
Cho Hyun highlighted the importance of President Lee Jae Myung’s visit to India in strengthening bilateral ties. Both ministers reviewed progress in trade, investment, and finance areas agreed upon during the previous summit. They explored ways to further enhance cooperation, including addressing challenges faced by companies in both countries.
The discussions continued over lunch, with a focus on the evolving global situation. Both countries agreed to maintain close communication, especially regarding economic impacts from changes in the Middle East. Jaishankar and Cho Hyun are set to meet again at the Jeju Forum for further discussions on bilateral relations and international issues.
Jaishankar’s visit to South Korea follows his trip to Mongolia. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity.
