External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to discuss enhancing the Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Later, Prime Minister Modi and the Brazilian President are set to have a bilateral meeting, with Jaishankar expressing optimism that this would strengthen bilateral ties. Jaishankar, after the meeting, expressed gratitude for the President’s support in advancing the Strategic Partnership.
President Lula’s visit to India, which began on February 18 for the 2nd AI Impact Summit, includes meetings with Indian ministers and top CEOs of Brazilian companies. This marks President Lula’s sixth visit to India, with both leaders having frequent interactions over the years. India and Brazil, as Strategic Partners since 2006, share a robust relationship across various sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the significance of President Lula’s State Visit in further solidifying the bilateral Strategic Partnership. Both countries aim to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, defense, energy, agriculture, health, technology, and innovation. The visit is expected to pave the way for enhanced collaboration on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
