External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh in Ulaanbaatar to discuss the progress of cooperation between India and Mongolia in various sectors. Jaishankar expressed India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Mongolia, emphasizing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, both ministers reviewed the advancements in development projects, capacity building, culture, education, security, and multilateral engagements. Jaishankar highlighted the potential for collaboration in mining, clean energy, and agricultural processing, reaffirming India’s support as a significant partner for Mongolia.
Jaishankar, on an official two-day visit to Mongolia, expressed his anticipation for productive discussions with Mongolian leadership. The visit follows Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa’s State Visit to India last October, underscoring the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two countries established in 1955.
After his engagements in Mongolia, Jaishankar is set to travel to South Korea for discussions with his Korean counterpart and to deliver a keynote speech at the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity. The Ministry of External Affairs announced Jaishankar’s upcoming visit to South Korea on June 24 and 25, 2026.
