Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Malik Motasim Khan, revealed plans for a nationwide movement by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) against the marginalization of Muslims and the destruction of mosques and madrasas. Khan emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that even without the AIMPLB’s involvement, such actions were necessary.
He highlighted the growing implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in various states, expressing concerns over mosque demolitions and arrests without bail, creating an atmosphere of fear. Khan stressed the need for a campaign to instill confidence in people and uphold constitutional values, emphasizing the importance of dialogue.
The movement, according to Khan, is not exclusive to Muslims but will involve both Muslims and non-Muslims in opposing unconstitutional practices in the country. It aims to safeguard constitutional principles of liberty, equality, fraternity, justice, and religious freedom. The AIMPLB’s Executive Committee has formed an Action Committee to collaborate with democratic and peace-loving groups to address issues like communal disharmony and attacks on Muslims.
