Reacting to the ongoing demolition near Faiz-e-Elahi Masjid in Turkman Gate, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Vice President Malik Motasim Khan emphasized the need for patience as the matter is sub judice. Khan stressed that until a court decision is reached, authorities should exercise restraint to avoid escalating tensions. The dispute revolves around the ownership of the land, with Muslims claiming it as Waqf property while the government asserts it as government land.
Referring to the mosque dispute, Khan highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and waiting for the court’s verdict. He expressed concerns over the manner in which the demolition was conducted, urging for a more peaceful resolution. Khan criticized the late-night demolition, stating that such actions should have awaited the court’s final decision before implementation.
Delhi Police have arrested five individuals following a stone-pelting incident during the demolition drive near the mosque. The operation, initiated near Ramlila Ground, aimed to clear unauthorized structures as directed by the Delhi High Court. The demolition, which commenced in the early hours, witnessed protests from residents leading to a volatile situation. Police had to resort to tear gas to disperse the crowd and maintain order.
