Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, has asserted its involvement in an assault on a transport facility of Pakistan’s paramilitary Rangers in Karachi. The attack led to the deaths of three Rangers personnel and four terrorists in a subsequent gun battle. Security forces initiated a clearance operation post the incident, recovering the body of a suspected suicide attacker and utilizing drones for surveillance support.
Law enforcement agencies are actively engaged in the ongoing clearance operation, with a focus on systematically searching and securing the affected area. Earlier, a separate attack on a paramilitary facility in Karachi resulted in the loss of three Rangers. Intense firing and a loud blast near Meteorological Chowrangi prompted the dispatch of personnel from various law enforcement agencies to the scene.
Sindh Inspector General Javed Alam Odho confirmed the attack on the local Rangers headquarters, where three terrorists were neutralized. The area has been cordoned off by the Anti-Terrorist Force, Special Security Unit commandos, and Rangers personnel, with a “mopping-up operation” in progress. Additional reports of blasts in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 5 were received by Rescue 1122, prompting immediate response and coordination from authorities.
