Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra has been fined 50 percent of his match fee and given two demerit points for head-butting Karnataka substitute fielder K.V. Aneesh during the Ranji Trophy final at the KSCA Ground. The incident took place in the 101st over of J&K’s innings when Dogra clashed with Aneesh after hitting a boundary.
Dogra, along with his teammate Kanhaiya Wadhawan, was trying to stabilize the innings following early setbacks. The altercation led to Dogra headbutting Aneesh while still wearing his helmet, which drew immediate attention from the umpires and players from both teams. Dogra later apologized to Aneesh for his actions.
The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association confirmed that Dogra has been penalized according to BCCI regulations and the decision of the match referee. The association stated that they will adhere to the disciplinary measures imposed on Dogra for his conduct during the final match.
A source within the J&K team suggested that the incident might have been a result of on-field tensions or sledging. The source mentioned that Dogra, known for his calm demeanor, may have reacted impulsively due to the situation. Despite the controversy, Dogra and Wadhawan’s strong performances helped J&K reach 527/6 by the end of day two’s play in pursuit of their first Ranji Trophy title.
