Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo visited the Mata Uma Bhagwati shrine in Anantnag district to take part in the Murti Pratishthan Divas celebrations. The event included a two-day Yagyna and spiritual programs organized by the Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust. Dulloo, as the Chief Guest, sought blessings for peace and prosperity in the region.

During the celebrations, the Chief Secretary engaged in the ‘Kalash Puja’ and other sacred rituals associated with the Murti Pratishthan festivities. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, and other senior officials, along with devotees and Trust members, were also present at the shrine.

Highlighting the importance of heritage conservation at the shrine, Dulloo affirmed the government’s commitment to protecting sites of historical and spiritual significance. He mentioned plans to enhance facilities and maintain the sanctity of the shrine effectively. The Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust expressed gratitude to Dulloo for his support and acknowledged the Deputy Commissioner’s role in coordinating the event.

The Mata Uma Bhagwati shrine, an ancient Hindu temple in Anantnag with five natural springs, reopened in July 2024 after 34 years. It holds great cultural and spiritual value for the Kashmiri Pandit community. The community is gradually restoring ancestral shrines across the Valley, focusing on reconstruction and preservation, supported by the diaspora and local efforts.
