The Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed nodal officers to oversee the smooth conduct of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra. These officers, designated by a government order from the General Administration Department, will work alongside their current responsibilities. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has been named the Nodal Officer for the Pahalgam axis, while Rahul Yadav will serve as the Nodal Officer for the Baltal axis.
The appointed officers are tasked with supervising all arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra and ensuring coordination with relevant departments and agencies involved in the pilgrimage. They will also maintain regular communication with Mandeep K. Bhandari, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB). These appointments aim to enhance inter-departmental coordination and facilitate the management of logistics, infrastructure, and safety measures for the devotees.
The upcoming Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, spanning 57 days and coinciding with the Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals. Devotees can choose between the traditional Pahalgam base camp route in Anantnag district or the shorter Baltal base camp route in Ganderbal district for their pilgrimage. The cave shrine, located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in the Kashmir Himalayas, holds significance for devotees who believe in the mystical powers of Lord Shiva represented by an ice stalagmite structure.
