Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, initiated the establishment of Akshaya Patra’s centralized kitchen in Katra. This kitchen, once operational, will provide 5,000 nutritious meals daily to school children. L-G Sinha highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and social organizations to ensure children receive balanced meals for their well-being.
On this occasion, L-G Sinha emphasized the significance of providing healthy food to every child for their development. He stressed that the nutrition of the younger generation will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country. Sinha also underscored the link between nutrition and education, stating that a well-fed child performs better academically.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed that nourishing meals are essential for children’s cognitive abilities and active participation in learning. He emphasized the role of nutrition in enhancing concentration, information retention, and classroom engagement. Sinha urged schools in Jammu and Kashmir to recognize that providing nutritious meals is not just about feeding children but also about molding their future perspectives.
L-G Sinha commended the altruistic efforts of Akshaya Patra, a prominent NGO in the school meal sector, serving over 20 lakh children in various regions. He also actively participated in serving meals to the school students during the event. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, officials, and members of Akshaya Patra Foundation, along with a large number of students.
